Workshop with the Tunisian Truth and Dignity Commission

In April 2017 swisspeace organised a joint workshop with the Tunisian Truth and Dignity Commission (Instance Vérité et Dignité – IVD) in Tunis to discuss with state and non-state actors about the future destiny, location, and use of the archives of the IVD and its imminent role as part of the national memory and of memorialization work in Tunisia and in the region. The swisspeace team was accompanied by Trudy Huskamp Peterson, member of the Advisory Board of Archives and Dealing with the Past, founder and former Chair of the Human Rights Working Group of the International Council on Archives (ICA), previously acting Archivist of the United States, Archivist of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as Executive Director of Open Society Archives and Open Media Research Institute. The workshop was financed by the Human Security Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the UNDP office in Tunisia.
