Interview with Sihem Bensedrine, President of the Truth and Dignity Commission in Tunisia

In this interview, Ms. Sihem Bensedrine, President of the Truth and Dignity Comission (Instance de Verité et Dignité IVD) in Tunisia, reports on the lessons learnt in the process of transitional justice. She speaks of the biggest challenges to overcome in the establishment of the IVD and about which elements are most vital in ensuring transitional justice processes actually lead to a transformation of conflict. She continues by exploring the ways in which archives can play a leading role in transitional justice and the work of the IVD. Finally, Bensedrine’s comments offer insight into the improvement of other Truth and Dignity Commissions in other contexts.
